DH77EB Acting Wonky -Time For New MOBO?

$

Hi,

I have a DH77EB Mobo with a Core-i5 that I've been using in my HTPC for the last few years with no issues. A few weeks ago, my LAN port started acting up, intermittently dropping the connection to the router with the only fix to restart the computer. This would usually happen when woken from sleep. I updated the drivers (a few times) with no success. Over the last few weeks, it's gotten worse; now even after a restart it doesn't always come back, sometimes taking a few restarts to get it working. In addition, sometimes if I just leave it for a few minutes it will reinitialize and come back online. I've tried swapping cables and ports on the router - I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue. Then, a few days ago, I've noticed that when I do a restart, sometimes the computer shuts down and hangs before powering down completely. Same with a full shut down, sometimes it hangs and won't power down all the way. Next, I've noticed that sometimes I'll power it up and while the fans start spinning, it won't POST or Boot. I need to do a hard reset and power it up again and even then sometimes it won't POST/boot. Once it does boot, and if the internet connection is working, then it works great. Any suggestions? To my knowledge there were no hardware or software changes that precipitated the failures. I know sometimes hardware just gets tired... Is it time for a new mobo?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Best BIOS to revert to for DQ87PG? Having all sorts of boot issues.

DQ87pg boot order won't stick when set to RAID is just one example I run into. We have hundreds of these PCs in classrooms and we also see the single boot device listed issue as mentioned in the forums.

I did try 153, with the same results. I was hoping that, if after two years, they updated the BIOS, there must be a good fix, but it didn't take care of the issue.

So, does anyone have a recommendation on which BIOS to go back to? I was think 148 or one of the 130s (I think you can't back further than one of the 130 BIOSes, but I can't remember which).

Keep in mind this has nothing to do with the OS, as much as I tried to explain to the person in the above linked topic. I am trying to boot to a USB, whether it be our MDT drives or UBCD on USB, they work on DQ45s through DQ77s and the ASUS boards we've been using since Intel shutdown their desktop boards. This should also tell you it's not an issue with the drives.

I have an Intel Dh67BL AA=G10189-210 that would not run! No sound, no video, I tried another mobo, and get the same results. I then tried another processor, and now I get a memory error. Old processor i5-2328, new processori5-3570.

Do not know what to do from here!

Network Adapter will not start on cold startup.

Hey guys, I need your help.
I have been trying to fix this problem for 3 days now with no success.

Symptoms: On COLD STARTUP during BIOS POST initializing, network adapter will not turn on, no green light. After boot, device manager shows correct name of adapter Intel 82579V (FYI integrated) with yellow marking. The driver is loaded but has not started as indicated in the System information. If I reboot or disable the driver and then enable it, the network adapter will then turn on. Subsequent boots will keep the adapter working, but if I shutdown the PC completely and then restart, then the network adapter will be turned off. When I startup the PC with the power off (cold start S5 soft-off state), the network adapter will not start and when I check the adapter's properties-details-power data, the current power state will be D3, which means no power provided.

What I have tried:

1. Installed latest driver, resulted in same problem.

2. Installed the Intel NVRAM update to correct the chipset name of the adapter 82579V from 82579LM, resulted in same problem.

3. Installed a new CMOS battery, resulted in same problem.

4. Defaulted BIOS settings, resulted in same problem.

5. Jumped the BIOS pins and reset with full power cycle, resulted in same problem.

6. Jumped the Intel ME Engine pins and reset, resulted in same problem.

7. Basic checks: Reseated all cables. Checked the integrated adapter, no visual problems. Motherboard is less than 1 year old. Capacitors look fine.

8. Re-installed Windows, resulted in same problem.

9. Checked the network adapter WITHOUT Windows installed, resulted in same problem. Cold start, no power, but if you reboot from BIOS again, the adapter will turn on.

10. Tested with different Power Supply, resulted in same problem.

11. Oh yeh, unchecked all the power saving features under power management for network device, resulted in same problem.

12. Check BIOS LAN was enabled, resulted in same problem.

Now here's where I need your help. I already did all of the above. The key check that I made is that WITHOUT the Windows and drivers installed, the problem still occurs, adapter does not start on cold startup, but if you reboot with just the BIOS installed, the green light will come on indicating the adapter now has power. That would indicate a problem in the BIOS POST not starting the adapter from a soft-off state or a mechanical off state.

Note: A related problem that occurred at the same time that this network adapter issue occurred is that if I shutdown the PC and then I shut off the surge protector that the PC is connected to, or if I just remove the plug from the PC, then I cannot restart the PC with the power button switch. Even with the new CMOS battery in, if I go from no power (G3 Mechanical Off), to plugging back in and starting the PC, it will not turn on. If I remove the battery while the PC is still plugged in, it still will not start. It will only start if I disconnect the power (Mechanical Off) and then remove the battery and then plug back in, and then hit the power button, then the PC will start.

It seems like there is a problem in the power settings within the BIOS, but even with a fresh BIOS Jump and default settings, results in the same problem.

My Specs:

Windows 7 32bit

DH61CR Motherboard (integrated Network adapter 82579V)

I5-2500 CPU

No additional PCI cards

Corsair PSU VS650

All Drivers are up-to date.
All Windows Updates installed.

Latest BIOS installed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

USB keyboard and mouse freeze

I have an Intel DH67BL motherboard. I syspreped a Windows 7 Home Premium hard drive, connected it to the mobo and it goes through the motions of OOBE but then when it gets to the Set Up Windows screen the USB mouse and keyboard freeze. Up to that point they worked fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DQ57TM Chassis Intrusion

I have recently put a budget system together with a pre used DQ57TM motherboard. All works fine, but at each boot I get a Chassis Intrusion warning, despite the fact that it is disabled in the BIOS.

Does this suggest a fault with the board (which I can live with) or is there something I could do to stop this warning message coming up?

Can I use 4 DIMMs of Ram for DX58SO board?

Hello,

I have been using Intel DX58SO mother board for nearly 10 years with 3x4GB DIMMs of ram as this mother board manual suggested to use only the blue coloured 3 slots leaving the 4th black slot empty for best performance. That makes it 12 GB of memory. But the manual also states maximum RAM supported for this board is 16GB. In recent times my music production projects are getting 12GB filled up with few projects and I am unable to think how to increase my RAM. 8 GB DIMMs are too expensive to buy 3 of them to replae old 4GB dimms. Even then 3x8GB would be 24 GB and one 8 GB DIMM would be useless too.

Can I install one more 4 GB DIMM in the black slot? what will happen? Or replace one 4GB dimm with new 8 GB dimm would work fine? Or just buy 2 8GB and throw all old 3 4gb dimms? Did anyone tried and can share your experience and advice?

Would be thankful if anyone can respond asap.

2017-07-14 MIB - 01 Windows 10 Disk Install ERROR.PNG

Windows Setup

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.

Some pointers:

Neither post is available for comment thus this one.

What finally worked:

  1. Set up RAID in RSTe (CTRL+I)
  2. Set BIOS Boot Mode to UEFI
  3. Plug in ISO mount type enclosure with Win10 ISO mounted (we use StarTech S2510BU3ISO)
  4. NOTE: I had to use the USB2 ports as the USB3 ports did not power the enclosure during boot
  5. F10 during POST
  6. Choose DVDROM - UEFI (name may vary)
  7. Click through and choose ADVANCED Setup
  8. Click on the RAID array logical disk for the OS
    1. NOTE: If any MBR partitions exist they need to be cleaned prior to this step
    2. Use DiskPart in Repair --> CMD
  9. Click NEXT

That should do it!

DH61WW won't turn on after BIOS Update

$

Hello everyone. I was using an Intel DH61WW with an Intel i3-3220 processor and 4 GB of RAM installed and a Nvidia GTX 1050. The motherboard had the BIOS 044 and I decided to update to 099. I use the F7 BIOS option to flash and everything looked like it was working, however, I left the computer there, with a black screen all night. The next day, the screen was black but the computer was on, the fans and everything, so I rebooted it. When I did that, the computer did not started anymore. The STBDY light is on, but that's it. No fans, no PSU, no video, no keyboard, no HDD sound, nothing. I tried to start it with minimum setup (just the processor, head sink and AC) but it did not started either. I also tested the LED pins with a flat head and it did not work. I tested everything else on another computer and everything's working fine. I tried to do a BIOS recovery, but it didn't even turn on the fans. To clear the CMOS did not work either.

Is there anyway to fix it? What caused the issue? Thanks for your help!

DZ87KLT-75k power cycling forever, won't boot (might boot after waiting for hours)

I have an Intel DZ87KLT-75k based system and it was working great since it was put together until I started experiencing an odd issue about a year ago, once in a while it would power cycle before posting and then boot. Then it would power cycle more than once before it posted and booted. Then a few times it power cycled over and over for lengthy periods of time before it booted. It took about a year for the issue to slowly evolve to the point we're at now, slowly day by day getting worse and worse.

Last week if I powered the system on, it might power cycle for hours until it eventually booted up. This week it won't boot up at all, just power cycles over and over and over and won't POST.

During all of this, after the system booted it ran flawlessly. Never a blue screen or crash, video games were great, no issues at all.

Here are diagnostic details

- nothing changed between system working fine and system power cycling

- not currently overclocked, may have been a few years ago

- CPU is not overheating

- swapped out the RAM

- swapped out the power supply for a big one

- swapped out the video card with a small one

- disconnected everything but front panel header & cooling fans

- pulled CMOS battery & unplugged system for 24 hours

- tried jumpering BIOS for configuration but not getting that

- the code seen on the code POST LED during this cycle go like this (watched in slow motion)

  00:00, 00:10, 00:18 (micro second), 00:15, 00:14, (two other sets can't make out), dd:26, dd:28, dd:3b, dd:39, dd:58, dd:44, dd:69, 00:55, 00:21, 00:03, 00:10, 00:00 (flashes for a sec), off

Some of these numbers may be wrong due to how fast they flash but the dd:26, dd:44, 00:21, 00:03, and 00:10 appear long enough to be certain

I would be tremendously appreciative if anyone has any successful advice as this system was perfect for my needs, handling everything including the latest games with ease, and I'm not at all in the mood to reconfigure a new system.

Hello,

My desktop pc has an Intel DQ35JO AAD82085-800 main board. Operating system now is Windows 10 pro, but cannot do the upgrade because of driver issue as you can see on attached screenshot of the 'Device manager'. The only devices attached to the pc are keyboard and mouse, display, loudspeakers, and a scanner, that's all.

So I would like you to help me solve this driver problem. Ran as well the Intel tool, see attached results.

This is my only pc, I have installed MS Office and some other programs. Do not have the efforts to start right now with a new pc.

Answers will be appreciated.

Thanks
