DH87RL with BIOS version 0322 UEFI

Intel Rapid Storage Technology 12.8.0.1016

I have installed Windows 8.1 with the SATA mode set to RAID. Using an mSATA SSD I am trying to configure acceleration. Unfortunately Intel Rapid Storage Technology will not allow me to accelerate my system volume on the HDD. Diskpart shows no partitions on the SSD. I noticed I receive the error "Question value mismatch with Option value!" when selecting to create a RAID volume. It says to press Enter but doing so displays the error again and I must restart the system. None of my disks are members of a RAID array. Why am I not able to accelerate using my SSD? What does the error I reference mean? A Google search turns up nine results mainly related to Linux. Could this error be related to my issue?

DH87MC memory temps incorrect

I'm posting this at Diego_Intel's request.  I recently used the procedures from this post (DH87MC, Video fail beep code, no video until after OS load) to fix my board not posting, and after using the power button trick to get into the BIOS, my memory temperatures in the BIOS screen have been reporting 86°C instead of the usual ~44°C, even after a cold boot where the machine has been off for a while.  This causes the MB to run the front, CPU, and back fans at full power.  I tried reloading the BIOS defaults many times.  I even re-flashed the BIOS with the same version.  Nothing has fixed the problem.  I've tried removing the memory sticks altogether and booting, then putting them back in.  I've tried 1 stick at a time in every slot.  Nothing has worked.

I should mention that the first time I tried powering on after 3 beeps, the machine seemed to hang.  I tried a few more times, waiting sometimes for 4 or 5 beeps, but in those cases the machine would just power off.  I noticed that sometimes it seems hung after the 3 beeps, but it just takes a while to start (~1min).  I think that might have happened the first time and I powered it off, me thinking it was hung up.  Maybe that screwed it up if it was in the middle of reconfiguring the BIOS.

While it's possible the memory chips' thermal sensors went bad simultaneously when they did, it seems highly unlikely considering they're in a cool environment and the case has 6 total fans, and I did not touch the memory DIMMs right before it happened.  More likely it's a glitch in the BIOS.

I have gotten around the problem by telling the BIOS to ignore the memory temp when controlling the front, back, and CPU fans.  I also maxed out the "normal" memory temperatures.

Coincidentally, the Intel Desktop Utility Summary screen reports the memory and VR temps at 170°C and 196°C, respectively.  While the Board screen reports those same values, but as negative numbers.  I don't understand why it is reporting different °C numbers than the BIOS when the other temps match what the BIOS is reporting.

I'm using 2 8GB Crucial DIMMs, model # BLS2KIT8G3D1609DS1S00.

DH87RL beeps twice after change from legacy to uefi

Hello there,

did have a lousy weekend due to a failure of this board Bios 3,17

got this board just yesterday and installed a GTS 450 Graphics, i5-4570, 8gb kingston valueram and some other components.

Everything worked until I made some BIOS settings changes (from legacy boot back to uefi boot, perhaps i deactivated internal graphics in advance)

after softreset, screen blanked and beeped twice two times. no chance to get in bios, no chance by reseating card, not even without card and internal graphics only.

So I tried to reset bios, but I think that is not working by putting out the battery.

So i tried this Bios Jumper to reset:

-> Screen didn't blank any more, short time to see the POST screen, but without ability to get in the bios.

Screen printed that I  [1] suppress this message [2] delete passwords [3] some information about TPM

So hopefully hard resetted after putting back the jumper

-> beep beep , screen blank

so what to do?

Screen blanks as soon as i put in the jumper again, without it i do not have a chance to alter bios settings...

DQ87PG Bios Support broken?

I have a new DQ87PG-Mainboard and tried to make it fit for Windows 8.1. On the Intel-Support-Site I found 6 Bios - Version 30, 35, 36, 121, 139 and 141.

My mainboard came with v. 30. I installed Win 8 and upgraded dirct to Win 8.1 - the PC worked well. Then I found Bios 139 with 8.1 support. I tried to flash Version 139 with all three methods - without succes, each with the same "FWUpdateFullBuffer" - error message. So I started to flash each version step by step. My results:

V 35 flash without error

V 36 flash without error

V 121 error - Bios file is not for DQ87PG, but for DB85FL Board

V 139 error FwUpdateFullBuffer

V 141 error FwUpdateFullBuffer

I'ts not my first experience with flashing mainboard, but I never hat such a number of problems.

The V 121 is more the a month on the support site, I found in an other discussion here a hint about this, but nothing happens.

I'm sure to maked a mistake by flashing the board! My system is plain vanilla:

DQ87PG Mainboard

I5-4670 Cpu

2*8 GB Kingston Memory

1 Samsung 849 EVO SSD-Drive

1 Plextor DVD-Drive

and it is quite good, stable an powerful.

Problem with HDMI audio using intel hd 4600 graphics

Hello,

I've got a huge problem regarding my hdmi audio in my intel dq87pg board. The setup is the following:

HTPC  -> Displayport to HDMI Adapter -> Onkyo AV Receiver -> TV

OS is Windows 8.1, Graphic drivers etc. are the latest.

if the TV and the AV Receiver is on when I start the HTPC, everything works fine. But if it is switched off while booting, the computer does not find any hdmi audio device when the receiver is turned on later. The same happens when av receiver is on during boot and the sound works and I restart the AV reveiver or replug the cable in between.

I've tried nearly everything, different drivers, reinstall windows etc, but nothing helps. Does anyone have a solution?

Many regards

Florian

Right Click on Desktop causes Delay because of igfxsrvc.exe

Hello,

the process igfxsrvc.exe is apparently part of the Intel Common User Interface and in use/started when I perform a right click on the desktop which causes an annoying delay of about 2 seconds while opening the context menu.

What is that process for?

Can I disable it or is there another way to avoid the delay?

DH67BL upgrade BIOS to v160 and now gives checksum error

$

I just updated my DH67BL's BIOS from (I think) v146 to the latest which appears to be v160.  I updated the BIOS using the F7 method.

After upgrade, at each boot I get a now checksum warning error - which I didn't get before.  Apart from this warning nothing else seems amiss (after only a few minutes of use).

I have tried downloading the BIO file again and redoing the upgrade, but it doesn't change anything.  I tried clearing the event log in F2 setup.  But it keeps reappearing.

I cannot find any other indication here that anyone else has seen this as a problem.

The only change I have noticed with this release is that it respects the settings I made for a primary monitor (the previous version assumed it knew which one the primary monitor was).

Where do I go from here to fix the issue?

Do I need to fix the issue?

Serious UEFI issue with DZ87KLT-75K

Hi,

I recently bought a DZ87KLT-75K. given my previous experience with with the DZ77HB-55K I should have know better than to buy this board. None the less i did and now I'm stuck with Visual bios problems again.

seems that UEFI is broken with this board. It can see UEFI devices in the bios (F2) but cannot boot from them. it worked for 1 day then started to fail for no reason. I also tried using the boot menu (F10) the sdd is not listed there. I switched the disk to another board and there it boots with UEFI without issues. I also tried booting the win7 and win8 dvd roms in UEFI mode but could not. the boot menu does show UEFI network boot options.

I tried flashing al versions available on the website, none of them work. Load defaults several times. even flashed the bioses through recovery mode. No improvement. Remove cmos batter and wait 15 mins no result.

weird thing is that the UEFI devices are listed twice in the UEFI menu in the bios config (F2).  In the boot menu UEFI network boot options only become available if legacy boot is turned off.

there is something screwed up in the settings but there is no way to reset the bios to factory defaults. none of the things i tried does this. If I change the color settings for visual bios, do a load defaults, save,  remove the cmos battery but the scheme stays the same. There is simply no way to wipe the settings clean. some things remain present even after these steps.

the old visual bios had the option to go back to the real configuration screens, think it was called classic bios. That option is gone. how do i get it back ? i need access to the bios core so to speak not the confusing and buggy shell that has been build around it.

DQ87PG 142 Bios killed graphics

Hi there,

the new BIOS (ver. 142) for the DQ87PG fixed most of the issues introduced by ver. 139/141. Thanks a lot.

One annoying issue remains, though. The onboard Display Port output does not work any more. The DVI output works just fine, though.

I use a generic Displayport 2 HDMI adapter, and a HDMI cable, on a regular monitor. This very setup used to work just fine pre ver. 141.

Any pointers for me?

Thanks!

Merrill

DH87RL Rapid Storage Accelerated Volume Selection

DH87RL with BIOS version 0322 UEFI

Rapid Storage 12.8.0.1016

Rapid Start 3.0.0.1053

Windows 8.1 x64

Primary HDD

Secondary HDD

mSATA SSD

I installed Windows 8.1 followed by Rapid Storage and Rapid Start. SATA operation mode is RAID. With Rapid Start setup and installed I moved to configure my cache drive. When I went to accelerate Rapid Storage would recognize all three volumes but only allow me to accelerate the non-system secondary drive. Even though Rapid Storage correctly showed my primary HDD as a system volume I was unable to select it. At this point I had a Rapid Start partition on the SSD and the system volume. I made no changes to the system volume when configuring Rapid Start. Next I decided to unplug my secondary HDD while powered down. When I powered up again the system was unable to locate a boot volume. The secondary HDD certainly wasn't a boot volume. Now I am unable to boot again with my Windows installation disk as the system BSODs before getting to the main install screen. If I look in the Visual BIOS there are now SEVERAL entries for the same boot volumes for UEFI. They seem to multiply based on the number of disks I have connected. None of them work. The system will no longer boot. I am going to remove the CMOS battery again for a bit to see if I can boot after that. There appears to be issues with the BIOS and UEFI boot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DZ87KLT-75K, Memory Issues Due To BIOS Issues *BIOS 0446*

$

I don't need to say much but many know the Board has memory issues on way or the other the recent being in the latest BIOS 0446, I have 32GB in 4 x 8GB setup, but been having issue running XMP 1.3 1600 plus after several cold boots (Power Cycles) eg 4 or so the board will decide to drop the XMP settings or any memory frequency above 1333 set whichever way be it manual or through overclock assistant, it drops the settings and setts back to default 1333 till you sett it all over again and after few power cycles the three beeps and a reset to default again. Problem was on all previous BIOS versions 0336, 0344, 0346 and now on 0446.

Only now the issue can clearly be seen on 0446 when the memory settings are dropped in favor of default settings after several power cycles, the board decides to shave of 8GB of my memory and display 24GB in the first page when BIOS is entered after the three beep error 24GB instead of 32GB and if you check the inner main page it still shows 32GB but with settings on default.

INTEL FIX THE ISSUES, the board is good only the Memory issues in BIOS are letting it down.

Plus on BIOS 0446 The memory latency has deteriorated i don't know why but it has worse latency compared to previous BIOS before the new 0446.

DH87RL Board Revision Questions

$

Hello...

I am new to the community.

I recently purchased an Intel Desktop Board DH87RL with the AA Code of G74240-401 and now I see revisions of the board numbered G74240-402 & G74240-403 are being discussed around the Internet.

I bought the board at: www.newegg.com

First question: I understand that the C1 Stepping of the board had a USB 3.0 Sleep / Resume Bug. If I never put my computer to sleep (always on and fully powered), will I have any trouble with using my USB 3.0 Drive? (IE: Plugging it in, transferring files, installing windows, unplugging it, etc..).

Second question: If there is trouble with the USB 3.0 Drive as the first question asks, how do I go about getting a newer revision of this motherboard? Do I send it back to Intel for a newer revision? My Online Retailer won't let me return it because I have opened the box, plus they tell me that they can't guarantee which revision they currently have in the warehouse for shipment.

Third question: If I do send it back to Intel, will I be guaranteed the newest revision or is the newest revision even available yet?

Please Help!

Thanks

Haswell C1 vs C2 stepping - How to check? (AA number is not help)

$

Hello, I just bought BOXDH87RL, and it's AA-numbered as G74240-402, so I assumed it is equipped with C2-stepping chip according to Intel's pdf.

https://qdms.intel.com/dm/d.aspx/9846199D-00AA-459C-9923-EC1663FC857A/PCN112423-00.pdf

This pdf says "The PCH (Peripheral Controller Hub) on the Intel® Desktop Board DH87RL will be converted from C1 to C2 stepping."

However, CPU-Z says it has C1 stepping, so I'm confused. Which is wrong, Intel or this software? Is there any way to confirm that?

DH87MC Doesn't Boot with External USB Drives Connected

$

It seems as if this board DH87MC has difficulty dealing with the boot process if external USB drives are plugged in.  I have a mix of USB 2.0 and 3.0 external drives connected to a rear USB 2.0 port of the board.  The computer will get to the INTEL post screen (but without showing any function options eg. F2) then will "shut down" and come back up to the same screen.  Essentially it is an endless loop.  I can boot fine if I disconnect these drives and then plug them in after the boot process is complete.  However, this is not a solution because the rear ports are not easily accessible.

The board also seems to have a difficult time recognizing USB 2.0 flash drives when connected to USB 3.0 ports on the board (either through the rear USB 3.0 ports or USB 3.0 ports via the header on the board).  In some cases, the computer will crash when using the USB 2.0 flash drives plugged in to the these USB 3.0 ports.

I'm am hoping that a future BIOS update will fix these issues.

Updated info:  The most recent BIOS is installed and makes no difference.  Also, boot from USB devices is turned off in the BIOS.

DH87RL - No USB power after exiting BIOS or restarting

$

We have around 100 DH87RL motherboards which all have thew same issues, updated to the latest 322 bios and still have the same problem

When we press f2 to enter the bios, then save and exit the BIOS this process kills power to all the USB ports, therefore rendering the machine useless when it starts up as there is no way to use a keyboard or mouse (its not a windows/software issue as it happens before the OS loads)

The only way to remedy the problem is to physically unplug the PSU, once unplugged you need to leave it for at least 10 seconds for all the capicitors to drain before switching it back on again

we have tried this with many different PSU's all with the same effect, along with the onboard intel I217V Network Card flooding our network with IPV6 multicast packets I am totally gobsmacked that a company such as Intel would release such a buggy mainboard

Does anyone know how to resolve the "lack of USB power" after a soft reboot
