Mainboard DB65AL: Unvollständiges Booten nach WoL

$

Hi!

Doris

Help DQ87PG with i7 4770 not booting!

My new DQ87PG with i7 4770 is not booting.

When I push the power on button the blue-colored Intel ME “M” state LED goes on and the standby LED starts flashing, after 10 sec without any action or screen output the system seems to reboot itself. After the first reboot still noting happens accept of the LED 's.

If the system is switched on their is no video output on VGA and DVI, I have no way of checking the DisplayPort output.

I tried different memory modules and power supplies.

When I remove all RAM their is no change.

No amount of battery removing or jumper changing is fixing the problem.

When I push the power on button and then switch on the power supply the board beeps as long as I keep pushing the power on button, 1 beep every second. After 4 sec. the system shuts down.

Help what is wrong!

DH87MC and MemTest86+

Hi all

I recently upgraded my rig. I bought a DH87MC. BUT: there is an error somewhere: The system shuts down without warning.

No log files are generated, as the shutdown happen too fast.

A friend suggested to run memtest86+. I did (I have kingston KVR16N11K2/16 kit of 2 - 16GB total)

Memtest stops testing @ pass% 22 - Test% 73 - Test# 7 [block move] - testing 4-6GB range.

I have now tried with both modules together and seperately, in all memslots. Memtest stops same place every time.

So: Do I have faulty RAM or Motherboard ?

DG31PR Multiple Hard Drive Issues

Hello, all! I am new to this forum, so be nice! Just kidding. While I am not new to the computer world, I do not know everything!

I have a custom build PC, with an Intel DG31PR mother board. I will list the specs below;

Motherboard: DG31PR v1.0 with latest BIOS from Intel download center PRG3110H.86A.0071.2010.0318.1704, 3/18/2010

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 @ 3.0 GHz Wolfdale LGA 755 Socket

Graphics: ATI Radeon HD3400 Series

RAM: 2GB DDR2

Hard Drive Config:

(I know they are laptop drives, it doesn't seem to matter. The issue persists on 3.5" hard drives).

-SATA 0: Hitachi 250 GB 2.5" HDD

-SATA 1: Western Digital Scorpio Black 500GB 2.5" HDD

-SATA 2: Western Digital Scorpio Black 500GB 2.5" HDD

Optical Drive Config:

-IDE 0: Optaric CD/DVD-RW Drive

-IDE 1: Random CD Drive

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

There are no further modifications to the system, and no other installations. Here is the problem;

My system is severely slow when I have more than one SATA hard disk connected to the board. As soon as I remove the multiple drive(s), it is no longer an issue. This has been going on since I built the system back in 2010. I have tried different hard drives, different configurations, different drivers, operating systems, removed hardware including graphics card, USB ports, and optical drives, etc. The hardware configuration does not matter whatsoever outside of the physical drives, more than one SATA hard drive causes the system to constantly have the drive activity light on, and becomes frequently unresponsive and longer POST times. I have tried replacing cables, and even re-flashed the BIOS just in case there was an error. No BIOS changes to the SATA configuration makes no changes. I am starting to assume that the motherboard's SATA controller is defective.

P.S. The southbridge chip runs quite warm (79°C, 173°F). I have seen this as an issue with other owners of the DG31PR, as other users have complained about it here on the forums. I have added a heat sink to no avail to cool down the chip, it runs too hot to touch it physically. I believe these two issues to be related (maybe an internal short?) but it could just be normal. I have also ran a Memtest on my RAM, it checked out okay.

All opinions offered, and I am prepared to accept that I may need to purchase another motherboard with the LGA 755 processor socket. Thanks in advance everyone!

DH87RL no video

Hi

Just received a DH87RL. I did build a system; system did boot/BIOS splash visible.

I did update BIOS (as per Intel recommendation inserted in box) to latest BIOS, 322.

System did boot again with new BIOS/BIOS splash visible.

I entered BIOS setup (F2). Made some minor changes:

- System uses integrated gfx only, put this to enable always

- disabled audio chipset (as it is a server like setup)

- changes boot order of the HDD's

After saving BIOS/reboot, no video anymore......monitor keeps in sleep.

- When I remove the BIOS jumper, and hit F2 while booting, I do get to BIOS splash screen and then a menu to reset BIOS password (and 2 other options)

- I have tried to clear BIOS by hitting F2 - F7 - F9

- I have cleared BIOS by removing battery & jumper. I am able to get into BIOS setup; restore defaults (clock was reset - so BIOS seems to be cleared)

- I confirmed that BIOS settings were as out of the box (I checked settings I changed)

- Reboot....no video (not on HDMI, not on DVI); monitor remains in sleep

- I have removed battery for whole night. Same results...

- I have detached all sata cables...same result (no video)

- I have a HDD with Linux installed and connected to DH87RL. Looking at the HDD led, it is booting. When I put this HDD back on the old MB, I can notice in the syslog that the DH87RL did boot linux (while I don't have video)....hence, rest of system seems ok. I am stuck, as there is a configuration issue with network, and I cannot remotely ssh into system...

I have noticed many posts on BIOS issues....I only made a minor change. How come that this became a major disaster?

By the way, I did build this system per recommendation of C'T Magazine; They quoted in their article that the first MB they received died after a BIOS update....I didn't pay attention to this, but there seems to be structural issues here, also looking at many other posts.

Intel, pls provide asap a BIOS which fixes these issues. Somewhere I did read a post from Intel where they acknowledge the issue. Pls provide a timeline for a BIOS fix, otherwise I will RMA the board, which will not make Intel happy either (and me neither....)

(Another major peef....the SATA connectors are to close to the edge. If you use a SATA cable with a lock, you are never able to release the cable...unless you take the MB out....or don't use SATA cables with lock mechanism....)

Hi, everyone!

Need help! When I try install Win7 on my computer OS type a message: "Please update your system". On intel.com I found last version of BIOS. But when I open jumper (for Recovery BIOS) my computer show to me black screen (monitor LED show Standby Mode). Normal jumper position - mother board "... can't find bootable devices...". BIOS Setup show all devices: DVD-ROM (Pioner), HDD (WD Green Caviar) and USB.

Sorry for my English but I can't solve my problem... without help.

how many pci express lanes does the haswell cpu have ? 16 or 20 ?

Hi,

I've been looking at the documentation of the  DZ87KLT-75K board. In the block diagram it looks as if the haswell has a 16x set of pci-e and another set of 4x pci-e lanes. this makes a total of 20 lanes. However i cannot find any documentation on this anywhere. The datasheet defines only 16 lanes.  Where did the other 4 lanes come from ?

The PCH has 8 lanes pci-e v2.0 and they are all in use.

The DH87MC has the same peculiarity.  I also checked boards from other vendors, no one has more than 16 pci-e v3 lanes coming off the processor.

Is this a documentation flaw or is there something special going on here ?

thanks,

Robert

Enabling SecureBoot -> Black Boot Screen

$

Hi,

my mainboard is a DH77KC updated to the latest bios version 0110.

The graphics card is a Saphire HD 7770 1GB (supports UEFI).

I installed Win 8.1 and enabled Secure Boot but now the Display remains black during boot (no Intel logo, can't access bios) then Windows starts without problems.

The monitor is plugged in to the Saphire DVI Port.

If I plug the monitor into the onboard DVI Port, it shows first the error message:

"Video OptionRom authenthicate fail".

Then shows the boot screen but then after booted to Windows it remains black.

If I disable Secure Boot everything works fine: Boot screen/intel logo shows up and then Windows boots. But this causes the watermark on the Windows Desktop that Secure Boot isn't installed properly.

(I can access the bios by either plugging in the monitor to the onboard DVI port or changing the BIOS jumper to configuration setting).

How can I use Secure Boot and also see the Boot screen?

Thanks

Intel DH87RL with BIOS version 0322

ASUS GTX650TI-OC-2GD5 with BIOS version 80.06.21.00.BB

I receive the error referenced in this discussion title when booting the system in UEFI mode. For the time being I have left embedded graphics enabled as not to lock myself out of the system board. The Asus card does have a BIOS update for UEFI but I am unable to install it without an ASUS system board. The operating system recognizes the card and I am able to use it. One discussion post referenced enabling secure boot and installing the platform key but there was no effect. The error does not occur during fast boot. No issues occur in legacy BIOS mode.

What does the error mean? What can be done to resolve this issue? I would like to disable integrated graphics and only use my Asus card.

DH77KC - Video OptionRom Authenticate Fail - using Video cards and UEFI

$

I am installing a brand new DH77KC desktop board with BIOS 110 that always returns a "Video OptionRom Authenticate Fail" error if UEFI boot is enabled and a Video card is present. As a consequence the additional Video Card is not used and OS boots by using the integrated Intel® HD Graphics.

I've tried with two different GeForce cards (GTS 450 and GTX650 Ti) with no luck. At the moment the only workaround is forcing a legacy boot by disabling UEFI.

How can I fix this issue and re-enable UEFI boot?

Thanks.

Serious UEFI issue with DZ87KLT-75K

Hi,

I recently bought a DZ87KLT-75K. given my previous experience with with the DZ77HB-55K I should have know better than to buy this board. None the less i did and now I'm stuck with Visual bios problems again.

seems that UEFI is broken with this board. It can see UEFI devices in the bios (F2) but cannot boot from them. it worked for 1 day then started to fail for no reason. I also tried using the boot menu (F10) the sdd is not listed there. I switched the disk to another board and there it boots with UEFI without issues. I also tried booting the win7 and win8 dvd roms in UEFI mode but could not. the boot menu does show UEFI network boot options.

I tried flashing al versions available on the website, none of them work. Load defaults several times. even flashed the bioses through recovery mode. No improvement. Remove cmos batter and wait 15 mins no result.

weird thing is that the UEFI devices are listed twice in the UEFI menu in the bios config (F2).  In the boot menu UEFI network boot options only become available if legacy boot is turned off.

there is something screwed up in the settings but there is no way to reset the bios to factory defaults. none of the things i tried does this. If I change the color settings for visual bios, do a load defaults, save,  remove the cmos battery but the scheme stays the same. There is simply no way to wipe the settings clean. some things remain present even after these steps.

the old visual bios had the option to go back to the real configuration screens, think it was called classic bios. That option is gone. how do i get it back ? i need access to the bios core so to speak not the confusing and buggy shell that has been build around it.

USB issues with Intel DH87RL

Hello,

I've bought an Intel Desktop board DH87RL ... mainly because of it praised low power consumption. But I've two have two issues with this Board which I find rather annoying.

  1. The board won't detect my USB Sounddevice on any USB port (USB3 or USB2)! It is usually detected as an UAC3556B device and using internal Windows sound-device driver. If I plug it into the board, Windows 7 x64 instantly reports an "Unknown Device" without any chance to install any driver or even get the USB PID and VID of that device. But it is instantly detected as an UAC3556B Sounddevice and will work correctly, if I plug it into an external USB2.0 Hub. Directly attached to the board ... doesn't work at all, at an USB hub ... works fine (doesn't even matter which, all USB hubs I tried did work just fine).
  2. The second USB issue results when trying to boot from an USB stick. I first thought I made an error in creating a bootable USB stick, but the device won't even show as a bootable device in the UEFI BIOS. But the same thing happens as in (1); if I plug the USB stick into an external USB hub the stick will get detected from the BIOS as a bootable device and the stick will boot just fine (again I've tried numerous models). The stick is detected in windows correctly—this only affects its capability to boot from. I've the current BIOS version 322 installed and no idea what I could try... I tried enabling "USB legacy" in the BIOS but it didn't change anything regarding this issue (or the above).

What can I do about these issues?

Hi Intel,

I am going to buy this combination to setup CentOS 6.4 and Run Xen Virtual machine.

This reason I pick up this pair because of this:

https://hardware.redhat.com/RHEL6/Intel%20Corporation/desktop

Looks DQ series MB support Redhat Linux, then I assumed DQ87PG support it and can run Virtual machine as well.i

Is it a good choice or you have better suggestion?

Thanks,

Jason.

intel D5400xs ram problem

Hello, I have an intel D5400xs motherboard and I wanted to install more ram. I installed 4x4GB DDR2-667ECC FBDIMM but only 8GB are working. I checked each and all appear to be working on their own.

win 7prof.64 bit

intel D5400xs

4x4GB DDR2-667ECC FBDIMM

BIOS version 1.1.0.L70

Channel A -  B show 8GB RAM

Channel A - C show 8GB RAM

Channel A -B - C show 8GB RAM

Channel A - B - C - D show 8GB Ram

Could someone be so kind as to provide me with an idea on how to make 16 GB work. I'm not overly familiar with bios settings, therefore a hint in this direction  might be helpful if the error could indeed be localized there.

Thanks!

DH87RL SATA Hot-Plug Problem

Hi Guys,

I'am using an HDD Cage on SATA Port 4 so i marked this Port as Hot-Plug in the Bios (DH87RL BIOS 322), installed Windows 7 x64, the Chipset Software 9.4.0.1027 and the Rapid Storage Technology Driver 12.5.0.1066.

When i insert a HDD it will be detectet correctly by the BIOS, Windows and the RST Utility, but RST says that Port 4 is an internal Port and Windows dont shows the safely removing hardware Button.

What can I do to get hot plug capability on this Port?

Regards
