DZ77BH-55K BIOS ISSUES AGAIN

$
0
0

I am sick of being dumped on by Intel every time I try to udate the BIOS on for the DZ77BH-55K motherboard.

I decided to update my BIOS to improve the way Visual BIOS performed with a Wireless desktop.

So I updated to Ver. 0099 from 0083 and my PC would not get past post when I booted!!!!

I removed the Digital TV Tuner card and hey it booted.  Replaced the card and the PC refushed to boot. In Ver. 0093 there is a fis "Fixed issue where TV Tuner card is not recognised" It's now recgnised and refuses to boot with the card installed - GREAT JOB INTEL!!!!!!!!!!

I went back to Ver. 0083 and it boots with the  Digital TV Tuner card in place, no problems.

This board has had more issues than any other I have ever had.

My suggestion is the Intel Engineers responsible for the DZ77BH-55K get their heads together and read the other 1,000,000 posts on and off this site about the board and FIX the issues properly.

DQ77KB sudden power on failure

Hi folks,

Has anybody seen an issue with the DQ77KB mainboard suddenly refusing to power up?

This feels like it's going to be a warranty claim type of thing, but I'm still hoping to find a fix that doesn't involve sending the hardware back.

In a nutshell the mainboard has been running fine for a couple of months, I had just powered the machine down and as it runs headless and had moved it to a new location, plugged it into a monitor, keyboard, etc as I wanted to upgrade the bios. A task I had just on another identical machine (they form 2 nodes in my virtualisation lab).

After plugging in said machine and pressing the power button, all I get is a brief spin on the fans (CPU and chassis) and the blue light towards the rear of the motherboard flashes on for about 1 second. Otherwise, no output. I haven't changed anything about the machines hardware since I built it back in early Feb 2013.

Since this, I've tried swapping all the hardware, SSD, CPU, RAM from the other identical working machine and nothing, the issue definitely seems to be mainboard related.

I've also tried disconnecting the power and CMOS battery and leaving it for an hour just to be absolutely sure, nothing.

On a whim I tried the MBEX reset jumper, didn't actually expect that to do it, but clutching at straws right now

Any tips, ideas, gladly appreciated? Anything obvious I've overlooked?

Kind regards, Keith

DZ77GA-70K bricked after disabling legacy boot (OO57 BIOS)

$

I just bricked my DZ77GA-70K after the setting some option in my brand new 0057 BIOS...

s

I'm usually booting using UEFI to Windows 8 system with success, previously with the 0053 BIOS.

After upgrade to the 0057 BIOS I noticed the Legacy Boot checked along with the UEFI boot checked. I decided to disable legacy boot and remove the USB and optical boot to reduce my boot time. I didn't touch to the new secure boot feature.

On reboot, no video output and two beeps :'(

I tried all the recovery methods: Back2BIOS button, configuration mode jumper (2-3), recovery mode jumper (no jumper at all), and removing the battery to clear CMOS all the night without AC cable. All attempts were unsuccessful.

My attached devices :

USB stick FAT 32 formatted (my usual BIOS upgrade stick) with only the brand new 0058 .BIO file on it, on the first yellow USB port, no other USB device attached (no mouse, no keyboard)

One DDR3-RAM stick (i switch between 4 ones to be sure one is not causing problems)

My steps with BIOS recovery mode (jumper removed) :

1. power on

2. status 31 : my usb stick is flashing

3. one beep

4. status 92 : two beeps, twice

5. status EA -> 77 -> 40 -> 42 -> 44 -> 48 -> 4A -> 4B -> FE (???), seems the last status (I waited 5 minutes)

6. reset button

7. status 15 -> 14 : three beeps, looping

8. reset button

9. status 15 -> 14 : three beeps, looping

And of course absolutely no video output...

I tried Intel Support by chat and the guy suggested me returning the MB to the reseller under warranty.

You really think that could happen only with setting a bad option in the BIOS ?

But... aren't all these recovery methods supposed to repair that ?

What there purpose if they all failed at restoring this setting ?

I switched from ASUS motherboards to Intel because I wanted serious work on hardware and BIOS level, and I'm really disappointed...

If you can help me, guys, I'll be very glad.

There is now a "Legacy Boot" option below "UEFI Boot" that you can use to turn on/off traditional BIOS emulation. But.....

WARNING: DO NOT TURN OFF / UNTICK THE LEGACY BOOT OPTION.

I unticked "Legacy Boot" and ticked only "UEFI Boot" but my PC did not want to boot.

There was no video on screen and i heard 2 beeps followed by a pause and then another 2 beeps, which means video card error.

I had to hold down power button for 3 seconds and release it, so i could get back into BIOS settings.

When i turned on "Legacy Boot" again, it worked fine.

Reset BIOS to defaults before upgrading.

DX79SR and USB 3.0 Firmware Updates

I'm sure like most of you, your USB 3.0 ports are not working under Windows 8.  When I saw the firmware updates dated 5/9/2013, I thought finally.  Well after installing the update I can say they still don't work.  I install both updates, front and rear.  The front update processes fine...and those ports may work, but I don't have them hooked up.  The rear update throws the message Device not found!USB.PNG

Any help to get this working under Windows 8, would be much appreciated.

Random Reboots on DX79SI

Title says it all. Specs are below. I bought this board less than 30 days ago and now that I have eliminated everything I possibly can, it seems like there is something wrong with the board. Scope of the problem .... PC boots fine and runs anywhere from 10 minutes to 10 or more hours ... then just decides to reboot itself. No BSOD, no errors in the event viewer, no errors in the BIOS. I've replaced the RAM, GPU's, power supplies. The only thing I have not changed out is the CPU, but at this point, I do not suspect it being the issue. There are NO heating problems or power issues. System is plugged into an APC UPS.

Intel DX79SI

Intel i7-3820 CPU

Thermaltake SP-850-M 850W PSU

PNY DDR3 1333 16G Memory

2x Gigabyte GV-R797TO-3GD 7970 GPU's (And yes, I am having the "Boot to Code 0" problem as well, but at least the cards initialize after windows loads. I used an old Nvidia GPU to get everything installed and working. Would be nice if Intel would fix this persistant issue.)

Corsair H55 CPU Water Cooler

Samsung HD502HI 500GB SATA Drive

Windows 7 Pro x64

Specific to the board, I've flashed to the latest BIOS and still have the same issue. I tried running Windows 8 Pro x64, issue still exists. I have replaced everything except the CPU and the problem still exists. No overclocking has been done, everything is stock until I was able to resolve this issue.

Any ideas?

dh 77eb rede lenta demais!

Tirei o windows XP e coloquei o windows seven profissional 32 bits e tbm nada mudou.

Grato

DZ77RE-75K randomly restarts by itself

$

Hi,

I have the following problem with a DZ77RE-75K / 3770K CPU. The system will restart randomly in any delay between 1 hour and 10 days. I have this problem since I got the board with BIOS less than 61.

In BIOS 61, the fix list includes this item:

Fixed issue where computer powers down with certain graphics card and USB front panel card reader installed.

I was hoping this would be my problem (I have an nvidia GTX 670 and USB front panel SD card reader), but no. After upgrade to 61, and then 63, I still have it.

This is not a Windows software issue. Windows event log doesn't list any bug or crash as it would if there was a driver issue. Instead, I only have the following events generated after the computer restarts. It says: "system was restarted without having been normally shut down. This can happen in case of power failure"

However, my BIOS is set to keep the system off in case of power failure, and what happens is the computer simply restarts. Therefore, I don't believe this is a power supply problem, or the system would just power off and stay off. My conviction today is that only BIOS is able to restart the system in this way.

See below the frequency of occurence of the problem. The computer is always on during day, and put to sleep at night. It happened 17 times in the last 3 months. Not often, but pretty frustrating to work and know the system can fail any time, or not.

So, Intel support, what do you have say about that?

DX79SI - high voltages when overclocking :(

$

Hi everyone,

I have an Intel DX79SI and a 3930k CPU on it.

I use the Intel Extrem Tuning Utility and CPU-Z to monitor my voltages. CPU-Z seems only to monitor the Core VID, not the Core Voltage. The Extreme Utility monitors the Voltage.

My Goal ist ~4.1-4.3GHz on all cores and 4.5GHz turbo on 1 core. In the BIOS I have 2 possibilities: Auto-voltages seem to get too high. About 1.3V peak-voltage on 1 core and a 1.4V core VID. For all cores it gets less because of the V-Droop on maximum.

When I set the core voltage manually to 1.25V it stays there all the time. I had 4.1GHzx6 - 4.5GHzx1 stable which is great for 1.25V in my opinion. But on idle the VID in CPU-Z goes down to 0.8V or soomething but the Extreme Tuning Utility shows more or less table 1.25V all the time :/ (again, 1.19V on all cores stressed, because of V-Droop)
What is healthier for my cpu?

I wanted to keep this system for at least 4 years.. so I don't want to kill my cpu by electron-migration.

What makes me wonder is: Other mainboards can set the Voltage-Offfset negative, I can't. To get it stable at 4.3GHzx6-4.5GHzx1 I need to set the voltage offset to 0.04V. Is there any possibility to set the offset negative? Like "-0.04V"?

And do you have any suggestions how to set the cpu in BIOS for this overclock?

DH77DF BIOS Video Optimization prevents booting w/ RAID

$

I have a DH77DF mini-ITX board running Windows 7 x64, latest BIOS 105, UEFI boot.  No problems using Video Optimization when using default Microsoft/Intel AHCI driver for my Intel SSD.  Previously Video Optimization didn't work but that was fixed:  http://communities.intel.com/message/169656.

I switched from AHCI to RAID using the latest Intel 11.7.0.1013 driver.  Now I have the old problem, the computer won't boot when Video Optimization is checked in the BIOS.  Everything works fine once it is unchecked.  This is only a problem in RAID not AHCI, and I only have one drive (RAID ready).  I'm using all the latest updates from Intel and Microsoft.

Probably related, my DZ68DB board using SRT also can't use Video Optimization in the BIOS but is otherwise fine:  http://communities.intel.com/message/172239.

DH61AG | new gen. Bios 105 breaks TV Card recognise

We are developing digital Signage Systems using the DH61AG. Since 2 Years we are build System with the
same HW.

On two of my test systems Installed the new Bios gen 105. (Update from old gen 45 to 99 transition,104,105).

Since that day the bios has problems to recognize and initialize the TV Tuner Card stable. some time it
works, sometimes the card is not detected and not visible in the Bios. it’s a try and error game with power on / off

Both system where in the lab for over 1 year without any problem detecting the PCI-E Tuner Card (heavy daily use)we didn’t touch the HW from

the system for over one year, only the bios update was done. since that, I observe on both system the same behavior.

it is not the Tuner HW Card, its definably some changes in the Bios.

Unfortunately  it’s not possible to downgrade to 45 Bios Version, so the system are broken at the moment.

Does any one else run into this issue ?

Intel please help and fix it in the next Bios.  (106 ?)

Thx.

DN2800MT: Automated way to set BIOS?

$

All,

Hello and good day...

Is there a way to install a BIOS image in a DN2800MT board and also load my chosen default parameters without needing to navigate the configuration screens?

Currenly, I'm using the Jumper/USB flash method to install the BIOS image.  I also have a preferred set of default parameters.  The folks at the manufacturing facility will not like the 5 minute long (error prone) method of manual BIOS configuration -especially since they will have a few thousand boards to configure.

Any suggestions, alternate methods of loading and configuring BIOS, etc -to accomplish this is greatly appreciated.

Memory problems with new DZ77BH-55K

$

I finally got all of my parts and completed the build and when I turned the computer on I heard 3 beeps (memory problem) and a 32 error code. I got the computer to boot by switching the memory around and by using only one at a time, but only with 2 of the 4 memory modules. They will only work in the "B" channel, on Dimm 4 and 2. I can have one in Dimm 4, one in Dimm 2, or one in both. As soon as I add a module to Dimm 1 and/or 3, I get the 3 beep memory problem error and the computer will not boot. I even bought another memory module from the store (different manufacturer) to be sure. I've updated the motherboard bios to the most current version (BHZ7710H.86A.0070.2012.0416.2117) but still have the same problem. The memory also showed up as 1333 MHz in the bios, but I was able to change it to 1600MHz with no problems.

Here's the specs:

Motherboard: DZ77BH-55K

CPU: Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 X 4GB) 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz (PC3 12800) Model CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9

GPU: Nvidia GTX 560 2GB PCI Express 2.0 X 16

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or are having the same problem, so we can find a solution. I really hope it's not a defective board, because I would hate to unplug everything, ship it back and wait for the new one to come.

DH61CR, after bios update, fails to boot

Hi everyone,

I have a pc with DH61CR motherboard, i5-2400, 4GB of RAM. Decided to update bios. Working bios was form year 2010. Express bios flash failed few times, with newest, and few earlier vesions. Decided to flash to next version after curent, working one. Success. Then I flashed one, from Dec 2012. Success. Bios looks different, mouse cursor, etc. Nice... The problem is, that it freezes in first BIOS window, showing Intel logo. If i press F10, i get boot devices list, but after selecting anything, it freezes, only reset helps. Bios update with F7 does not do nothing. Tried resetting BIOS, changing RAM, even CPU, without graphics card - the same. Tried BIOS recovery mode by removing jumper - no image, just cycling between on and off. Is there a way to revive motherboard? I have experience of 10 years of fixing similar issues, but I think only way now is RMA it. Any advice is very welcomed, thanks.

DX79SR - Rear USB 3.0 Ports Not Working - What is the fix?

In Device Manager, the Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller that pertains to the rear USB 3.0 ports has a yellow warning sign with an exclamation character in the middle and the status of the device is "This device cannot start (Code 10)". I have tried to disable and re-enable the device, uninstall and reinstall the driver to no avail. I have the latest BIOS and Renesas driver versions which I downloaded and installed from the Intel download site. The BIOS version is SIX7910J.86A.0553.EB and the Renesas version is 3.0.12.0. Does anyone else experience this same issue? Does anyone have a fix for it?

Get SRT rolling on Data Drive separate from system disk

$

Hi - first posting.

I've been digging through the forums but not quite finding what I'm looking for.

I'm running an Intel DZ68BC board with two Seagate Momentus XT drives in RAID1 for the System Drive.  I do a great deal of database work w lots of I/O so I've also got a 2TB WD Black Data Drive.  I'm also running an external drive (RAID1 inside of a Vantec box via eSata) but figure that is of little concern.

My big idea is to install an SSD and team it with the data drive in a SRT RAID configuration.  Though I enjoy poking around w the box I'm really just an enthusiast - not a real IT guy.

Since this is not my system drive would the operation be as simple as installing the SSD, going into the Intel Rapid Storage Tech program and selecting accelerate for the data drive?  One question is, since the system drives are already in a RAID, will that cause confusion to the configuration tools/chips when I want to put two other disks in a separate RAID?  Here's another, would I absolutely need to update BIOS or should stock BIOS be OK?

Easy as pie?  Pitfalls to know about?  Fools errand?

Appreciation in advance for any thoughts/suggestions.
