BIOS 0064 for DZ77GA-70K breaks secondary SATA

$

0

I installed BIOS GAZ7711H.86A.0064 on an Intel DZ77GA-70K yesterday. Now, the secondary Marvell SATA ports only work sometimes (more on that later), and I can no longer select a Secondary SATA Mode (see attached images; the menu is gone). The Samsung SSD Magician utility confirms that the drive attached to the Marvell controller (when it works) is not using AHCI.

Furthermore, when I plug all of the workstation's drives into the motherboard (there are six total, including the optical drive), the drives plugged into the Marvell SATA ports will not mount. Windows detects that there is an issue, and when I troubleshoot it, there is a "Code 12: This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use." This was not a problem under the BIOS that shipped with the board.

BIOS waits for keyboard input with no keyboard

$

I'd like to use the DN2800MT mobo in an embedded application. The one problem which could be fatal is that no matter how I configure it, there are conditions in which the BIOS will put up an error message and wait for user input, even if there is no keyboard connected. I'm not talking about the "A bootable device has not been detected error." That's fatal anyway. I'm talking about things like this:

The previous boot attempt failed.

Would you like to restore Fast Boot on the next boot? (Y/N)

Hitting reset results in the same message. Turning the power off and on again results in the same message. There is NO WAY that I can find to recover from this without plugging in a keyboard. (And of course, plugging in a monitor, so that you know why the system is just sitting there like an expensive brick.)

What can cause this to happen? Simple: interrupting the power at the point where the BIOS is about to try to load boot code from the boot device. This is something that can happen in the real world, in the course of general fiddling with the thing, for instance by turning the power on, and then kicking out the power cable by accident.

The BIOS obviously knows whether there is a keyboard connected: it only supports a USB keyboard. So why would it wait for input from a non-existent device?

I downloaded the tool for configuring the BIOS, hoping that there would be an option in there, but it only seems to give access to the same options that one gets in the BIOS screens themselves. Is there really no solution to this? I can't have people sending a unit back for service just because the BIOS is stuck in Stupid Mode.

Graphics Card Issue

I have an i7 3930k running on a DX79TO motherboard.

Does this chip enable PCIE 3.0 support on the DX79TO motheboard.

The motherboard needs a compatible processor with 3.0 functionality and that is not listed on the i7 3930k specs page.

My question is because I want to purchase a Radeon HD7870XT card that uses PCIE 3.0x16

Thanks

Hello All,

I am using a DX79TO with an i7 3930k.

I want to purchase a Radeon HD7870XT and that card uses PCIE 3.0.

The box of my DX79TO has an * by the PCIE 3.0 saying it would work with processor that supports PCIE 3.0.

So would the i73930k enable PCIE 3.0 support on this board.

PS/2 Keyboard not working in Windows7 after BIOS update but works in linux

Hi,

    My system specs: i5-2320

           Motherboard:  Dh61WW

          RAM:  4 GB

I recently updated my Bios from 0048 to 0099. After update my pc dint start (many users had problem of boot failure after update to 0099). So then i updated it to 0109. Pc now works but since then my PS/2 Keyboard is not working partially.Tried updating to 0111 and 0113(latest at present) but still problem is same

When I start Pc, I can enter Bios menu by pressing the key, but once Bios opens, I cannot use my keyboard (surprisingly, usb mouse works in bios, vich, before update dint used to work.). Same with boot sequence menu,i can enter but cannot select nething as keyboard stops working. If I dont enter Bios or boot menu, I come to a screen where i ve to select the os vich i want to start (I ve windows 7 and ubuntu dual boot options) I can use keyboard to select an option i.e keyboard works at this point. If i go to ubuntu, keyboard works perfectly fine. But if i select windows 7, Keyboard stops working. In device manager, the keyboard option isnt seen only..

if i update Bios, Keyboard will work when it restarts 1st time after bios update, but if I shut down or restart again, It wont work. So,if i want to use a keyboard, I ve to update bios everytime i start pc( doesnt matter even if i install same version of bios).

Also, I tried resetting bios configuration via battery removal, jumper reset method but dint help. Installing windows 7 or windows 8 doesnt work.I already tried it.

Jus after I updated bios, keyboard was detected in bios (pic attached)

kb aftr bios update.jpg

But after I restarted pc, Keyboard is not detected (pic).. As u can c, der is no Keyboard detected in device manager.

kb aftr restart.jpg

Sometimes I get such msg (pic) but if i select "restart now", again same problem occurs.

driver.jpg

I tried resetting bios configuration via battery removal, jumper reset method but dint help. Installing windows 7 or windows 8 doesnt work.I already tried it.

Please help me to solve this problem.. Thanx in advance.

Hi!

I'm having some trouble with my DQ77KB and I can't se the post screen so I can't enter bios. If I wait a few seconds my screen appears when I enter Windows so I can use my computer. I have tried to disconnect the battery for an hour and updated my bios but with no luck. Also tried both hdmi and Displayport on my computer screen and jdmi on my TV with the same result. Anyone has a clue what it can be?

DZ77RE-75K not recognizing a XFX R7870 DD 1GHz 2GB Video Card

$

After building a new computer with this board it wouldn't recognize either a XFX HD5870 or the R7780 plugged into the PCI-E x16 expansion slot. When I did manage to get the enter BIOS screen displayed by unplugging the PCI-E card completelyand connecting the onboard HDMI to a 1080p display it appeared that the PCI-E GPU's were not being seen addressed during post.

After several re-slots without a video cable connected to the PCI-E GPU, so I could see what was going on in the BIOS on the 1080p connected to the onboard HDMI, I did eventually manage to get the 5870 to be recognized in the BIOS and have an address space allocatted after which it worked ok using the DVI to a Dell 24" Ultra sharp 1900x1200 and the GPU cards HDMI to a 1080p screen. It was hit and miss though for the BIOS to recognise the card immediately (managed to get it recognized 2 times after which gave up since it was working) after starting fresh and re-slotting the card each time and entering BIOS to see if an address was allocated. The 7870 was just never recognized and addressed ever.

After updating the BIOS, to v.590, the 5870 seems to be automatically recognized (not extensively verified) and given an address all the time however the 7870 still will just never be recognized and given an address in the BIOS even after numerous re-slots. I recently flashed to v.60 BIOS and will try again this weekend to see if the 7870 can ever be automatically recognized by the BIOS and addressed.

Anyone know if this is a problem with the BIOS and might be fixed in a future flash? It seems to me to be a BIOS problem where the PCI-E GPU's are not being seen during post and allocated an address and as such are non-existent. Anyone know of a soultion to this problem? I tried many different BIOS configurations during all this. The 5870 appears now to be recognized all the time on default BIOS setting for the video in the latest BIOS version (requires more testing to verify) but the 7870 still refuses to be seen by the BIOS at least on the v.59.

HD3000 - iGPU problems

Hi guys,

I've a bit of problem with my HD3000. I was using this iGPU with my GTX680 via Lucid Logix Virtu ocassionaly, but most of time I lef it off.

But now, when I want to turn iGPU on in bios, it usually do not boot (boots with black screen and then shutdown) or when I scale the slider in O.C. Assistant it freezes. I have tried it with some of my OC as well with default settings of BIOS. My question is - is the iGPU damaged? Or is there a way how to find it?

My rig:

Intel i5 2500k

Intel DZ77GA-70k
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2x4 DDR3 1600

Nvidia GTX680

Kingston HyperX 120GB

and sadly.. Windows 8

Thanks for any ideas and suggestions in advance.

DZ77RE-75K: Primary PCIe not detecting video card

I have trouble on my video card/motherboard that my monitor doesn't detect any signal during boot-up. Can some PC expert help me on this? I really don't know what the problem is after a series of testing.

PC components:

Intel i7-3770K

DZ77RE-75K

Intel SSD hard drive 520

PowerColor 7870 Myst PCIe 3.0

850Watt PSU (should be enough)xi

Windows 7 Professional

My motherboard comes with two PCIe x16 slots, and one of them is x8 electrical. When I first install it, I put my video card in the x8 electrical slot and it works fine except the graphic isn't that great. I soon figure out that I should use the primary slot instead of x8 electrical slot. After switch the card into the right place, the monitor doesn't detect any signal. I have tried to configure the BIOs as booting PCIe (PGE) first and disable the on-board video card (I tried a lot of setting). The card is still not showing up, so I think it might cause by failure PCIe slot. Then, I install my old PCIe 2.0 card onto the primary slot and it works. I re-boot several times to verify this primary slot is working.

Just one try, I delete the driver of my new card in hardware manager under Windows then put my new card back on. Magically it works. So I shut off my computer, put every in place and close my case..... The nightmare comes again... When I try to turn on again, the monitor now doesn't detect any signal... I login using on-board video and check the pre-install driver of my new card and it's not there. Now, I don't know what should I do? Does anyone have solution for this problem? Thank you...

Periodically getting "network cable unplugged" error on DZ77GA-70K after booting.

Every so often when I boot my computer after a shutdown get the network cable unplugged notification on the primary LAN port (82579V) even though the cable is still fine. This only happens when the computer first starts and can be addressed by either unplug/replugging the cable or disable/reenabling the network adapter. It will then work perfect for the duration of the computer being on, and might even be fine after my next shutdown and fresh boot. It seems completely random.

I thought it might have been a problem with Fastboot on Windows 8 causing some kind of issue with the device, but even with that disabled it still occurs. It has happened off and on since I got the motherboard, through multiple bios/lan driver versions (currently 0064 and 18.0.1.0). This is little more than a minor annoyance every now and then, but it still shouldn't happen.

Has anyone else experienced something like this with this board or any similar to it?

DH77DF HD Boot Issue - Still having issues

Hi All,

I could use a little assistance with BIOS options for HD boot. I have built a NAS Server with my DH77DF motherboard. I'm using an OZC 120GB SSD drive connected on SATA P0 and three WD Caviar drives on P1-3. I set the motherboard to boot off of the OZC. POST's fine, OK. I loaded VMWare ESXi 5.1 and everything loaded fine. After the initial ESX load I went to reboot and received a no boot OS found error. I grabbed a Linux live CD and ran GParted on the OZC and sure enough the OS and all drives were there. The drive was also marked as boot so I restarted the server and selected the boot menu in the BIOS. After pointing it to the OZC it fired right up, no problem. What the heck? I tried reloading it just in case, but same results. Not quite sure why the motherboard does not see the OZC as a boot drive. Is there something in the BIOS I am missing with the drives? Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello zocko,

    A couple of recommendations:

Make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed.

In the hard drive order confirm that the top one is the Solid-State Drive with the operating system.

If problem continues, under the configuration tab, SATA configuration set a hard drive delay.

__________________________________________________________________

    Hi Victor,

Thanks for your reply. The SSD is indeed the first drive in the list. I'll investigate the BIOS level. What value would you recommend for the HD delay?

    Thanks!

    Hi Victor,

I updated the BIOS to the latest version. Nice new interface BTW. I also added a 3 second HD delay. Still the same results. The BIOS sees the SSD as the number one disk, but refuses to boot automatically from it. I can start it from the F10 boot menu just fine. Anything else I can try? Thanks for your assistance.

    Hello Zocko,

I recommend you to change the HD delay to 5 or 10 milliseconds and test it.

You can also try to disable on the BIOS the boot to Network and to Removable devices. You can also disable the Boot to USB if you do not need it.

    Regards,

    5. Re: DH77DF HD Boot Issue

    Hi Sylvia,

I tried the delay at both 5 and 10 seconds and disabled all removable and network devices for boot in the BIOS. Unfortunately it did not have any effect on the issue. The system still complains that it is unable to automatically detect a boot device, but all drives display in the correct order in the BIOS. By pressing F10 for the boot menu I am able to start the system with the SSD drive. Anything else I can try to get the system to recognize the boot device? Thanks for your assistance

DZ77RE-75K randomly restarts by itself

$

Hi,

I have the following problem with a DZ77RE-75K / 3770K CPU. The system will restart randomly in any delay between 1 hour and 10 days. I have this problem since I got the board with BIOS less than 61.

In BIOS 61, the fix list includes this item:

Fixed issue where computer powers down with certain graphics card and USB front panel card reader installed.

I was hoping this would be my problem (I have an nvidia GTX 670 and USB front panel SD card reader), but no. After upgrade to 61, and then 63, I still have it.

This is not a Windows software issue. Windows event log doesn't list any bug or crash as it would if there was a driver issue. Instead, I only have the following events generated after the computer restarts. It says: "system was restarted without having been normally shut down. This can happen in case of power failure"

However, my BIOS is set to keep the system off in case of power failure, and what happens is the computer simply restarts. Therefore, I don't believe this is a power supply problem, or the system would just power off and stay off. My conviction today is that only BIOS is able to restart the system in this way.

See below the frequency of occurence of the problem. The computer is always on during day, and put to sleep at night. It happened 17 times in the last 3 months. Not often, but pretty frustrating to work and know the system can fail any time, or not.

So, Intel support, what do you have say about that?

Memory problems with new DZ77BH-55K

I finally got all of my parts and completed the build and when I turned the computer on I heard 3 beeps (memory problem) and a 32 error code. I got the computer to boot by switching the memory around and by using only one at a time, but only with 2 of the 4 memory modules. They will only work in the "B" channel, on Dimm 4 and 2. I can have one in Dimm 4, one in Dimm 2, or one in both. As soon as I add a module to Dimm 1 and/or 3, I get the 3 beep memory problem error and the computer will not boot. I even bought another memory module from the store (different manufacturer) to be sure. I've updated the motherboard bios to the most current version (BHZ7710H.86A.0070.2012.0416.2117) but still have the same problem. The memory also showed up as 1333 MHz in the bios, but I was able to change it to 1600MHz with no problems.

Here's the specs:

Motherboard: DZ77BH-55K

CPU: Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 X 4GB) 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz (PC3 12800) Model CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9

GPU: Nvidia GTX 560 2GB PCI Express 2.0 X 16

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or are having the same problem, so we can find a solution. I really hope it's not a defective board, because I would hate to unplug everything, ship it back and wait for the new one to come.

DZ77GA-70K post problems

Hello,

I am in the middle of putting together a system with a DZ77GA-70K and a i7-3770K.

When I power-up the system, I get beeping (three beeps) and post code 48 appears on the LED display.  Ostensibly, this is a memory error (according to the Integration Guide), but I have tried two different pairs of modules (DDR3-1600 and DDR3-1333, both 2x 4GB) in slots 1 & 3 (the blue ones).

According to the DZ77GA-70K Technical Product Spec documentation, the post code corresponds to "Refresh memory space attributes according to MTRRs", but it's not much help.

Can anyone suggest what to do next?

By the way, I did double-check the power supply connections, jumpers, switches, motherboard contact with the backplane, etc.

Boot Bug with DH77KC and Bios revision 0100

Hi, I run Windows 8 Pro RTM with the Intel DH77KC motherboard. The initial bios release 0065 were pretty bad, and 0095 was pretty huge upgrade, but I was still hoping for more refined bios. My computer would wake itself up, for example (Windows 8 maintenance option to wake up the computer is unchecked).

I just flashed 0100 today and to my disappointment, I couldn't boot unless I mashed F10 to get the boot menu and selected UEFI: my SSD. The system would just perpetually hang with the three boot options on the upper left corner of the screen. However, I put the bios back to default and it would boot, nice integrating the UEFI boot splash with Windows 8 loading! It turns out the problem was when I had video optimization on. General optimization still works though.

So does anyone have a similar issue with video optimization turned on? I have yet to try sleep mode on the new bios revision, but has anyone had that issue too?

Hello all

I have problem with DVI port and Windows XP. When my monitor connected throught the DVI I can enter in BIOS, but when starting Windows XP I has black screen. With VGA all works. I think problem with drivers. Intel support page doesn`t has Video driver for Windows XP - there is some constructor for driver making and also can download some instruction how to use this constructor. This user manual has information how to make driver for VGA connection, but doesn't has info for DVI. Can you help please?

DH61DL: BIOS shows "DH61BE" after update; PCIe/USB3 without function

$
0
0

After updating the BIOS of a DH61DL from version 0046 to 0099 and then from 0099 to 0109 the BIOS screen shows "DH61BE" in the top line. I guess, the update utility has indeed misrecognized the board and installed the wrong version, because now there are some problems:

- The network card in the PCIe slot is no longer recognized by the OS (W7); the BIOS says "Not Populated", but nevertheless shows vendor and device ID in the next line.

- The USB3 ports are missing, the BIOS graphic shows only "*" instead of numbers.

Also the number allocation of the USB2 ports is incorrect and an ESATA port is shown.

I tried to downgrade at least back to version 0099, but all available methods failed; installing version 0109 again brings no changes.

How can i get this board to work correctly again?;
