I configured my BIOS to disable the onchip graphics, and use my AMD 6950 exclusively. However now I get the [beep beep pause beep beep] code on boot. The computer successfully boots into Windows 8, but I'm unable to access the bios settings, since I have no video output until the OS driver loads.
I updated the BIOS to the latest (0047) which mentions a fix similar to the issue I'm having, but it clearly did nothing to fix it. There's no way for me to reset the bios settings. I tried the business with the bios configuration jumper, but it does nothing. I even tried creating a custom bios using ITK, with altered settings for video, but that had no effect. I've tried using another gfx card to verify it's not an issue with my 6950. No deal.
At this time of writing, I've resorted to ingesting good single malt whisky, and while it eases the mental pain of this ordeal, it does little to mend the technical problems I'm having, and thus I do not percieve it to be a viable long term solution.
